MFO Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon

Project overview

Itenbau AG led a unique project. The largest building that had until then been moved in Europe. The 6,200 tonnes of weight were slid 60 metres longitudinally with a height difference of 30 centimetres. Because of the SBB through line and the new construction of additional tracks, the building had to make way to the side.

Challenges

The Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon is 80 metres long and only 15 metres wide, very narrow and fragile. Directional corrections therefore had to be made repeatedly at the front.
