Project overview
Haus Blumenthal in Kilchberg ZH dates from 1837 and is an important witness of Biedermeier living. To better integrate a new building, the 1,800-tonne villa was moved 28 metres horizontally to the side instead of being demolished.
Challenges The large vaulted cellar is supported on only four sandstone columns with capitals; these columns had to be preserved and were moved with the building.
