Project overview
Itenbau AG carried out the structural strengthening of the Fiesch bus station. To ensure load-bearing capacity, prestressed steel beams were installed under the existing concrete slab, combined with a targeted lift of the previously deformed structure. The slab was raised by four centimetres; the lift was carried out with 18 telescopic props each rated at 100 tonnes. Prestressed HEM 400 beams up to 19 metres long were installed. Seventeen heavy-duty consoles were fabricated and mounted for the project.
Challenges The lift was carried out while a sports shop and a restaurant remained in operation. The beams were prestressed in advance in the company’s own metal workshop.
