Project overview In Illnau-Effretikon, Itenbau AG carried out the insertion of the new SBB bridge at Grindelweg. The bridge, about 7 metres wide, approx. 14.50 metres long and weighing about 200 tonnes, was moved over a distance of around 13 metres. Sliding tracks with various sliding sledges were built on the platform, and the existing bridge was slid out and the new bridge slid in in two parts during a weekend operation.
Challenges
Of particular note is that the bridge was built in an elevated position, so the existing underpass could remain fully open to traffic until the sliding weekend.
