Project overview For Nova Fundaziun Origen, Itenbau AG moved the 2,000-tonne White Villa eight metres and fully preserved the fragile listed building thanks to precise bracing. The move was necessary to eliminate the bottleneck on the Julierstrasse. Despite confined space and a fragile historic fireplace, the fabric was fully preserved thanks to targeted bracing and steel structures. The precise, well-coordinated move combines the highest engineering skill with the protection of a unique cultural heritage.
Challenges
The fragile old fireplace had to be preserved and moved with the building. The vaulted cellar entailed extensive horizontal bracing measures. All work was carried out under extremely confined space conditions.
